The only thing more fun than learning how to cook is
eating what you have made! Our students had a great
time learning to cook traditional Bolivian dishes in
the kitchen next to one of our classrooms. In addition
to learning how to set the tables, serve each other,
measure and mix ingredients, and follow a recipe, the
children learned about proper hygiene while working
with food. Our little chefs made their hats and aprons
from newspapers.
It
was a great day for the kids and a blessing that our
school staff coordinated it all without burning down
the kitchen! These are the sort of "practical life"
lessons that are a part of our new Montessori program,
and like so many things that we offer at Casa de Sara,
they are not things that our kids could experience anywhere
else. Watch out Food Network!
