nother
school year at Casa de Sara is in full swing and the children and
families could not be happier! Our curriculum has slowly evolved
to include a heavy influence of Montessori style teaching along
with traditional methods. This way of teaching has proven very successful
for our little school! In addition, our children participate in
field trips and continue to receive health care, daily vitamins,
breakfast and snacks.
Casa de Sara
has become quite popular in our area of Santa Cruz. Local government
officials are frequent visitors to the school. They are very impressed
with what we are doing to educate the poorest of children. The required
government paperwork is nearly in place for our future educational
plans (a process that has taken three years due to ever-changing
policies and political issues). Now, we can look forward to a future
of expansion as we strive to raise the much-needed funds to purchase
land and build a new facility.
Our health care
education program, led by our staff doctor, remains a strong and
successful program. Reaching hundreds of teenagers each year, this
to-the-point and sometimes graphic program includes important information
on drugs, local diseases, sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy,
abuses to women and children, social problems, and general health.

Once
a month, the same subject matter is taught to the community at large.
This program, which has grown each year, is very needed and nearly
unheard of in our area of Bolivia.
As always,
none of this would be possible without your help! We ask that
you continue to support our efforts. Each small step we make translates
to life changing steps for the children and young adults that
benefit from our programs. Thank you for helping to make it possible.
