e
are half way through our school year in Bolivia and for the most
part, things are going well. Our children are precious and eager
to learn. Its easy to see our beautiful kids in the newsletter
and not remember how very little they have. Please remember, our
kids and their families live moment-to-moment daily. The health
of our children is not always easy to realize in photos. Ninety-five
percent of our kids have serious tooth decay and dental issues and
over 50% have lung infections. All have some sort of parasite; over
20% have 1st degree malnutrition and the others had serious vitamin
deficiencies. Most of our kids have no birth certificates and no
shot records. Infections, viruses and emotional issues are common
and this is just a small part of the story. (That was the report
on our last health care check-up) But, its a part of the story
that is very hard to see in photos and sometimes is deceiving in
person. That is why these children depend on Casa de Sara and all
of the wonderful donors so very much. We are changing lives!
Throughout
the school year our staff doctor monitors the childrens health
care, and teaches health care seminars to the community and surrounding
schools. It is a significant part of our program in Bolivia. In
addition, this year we will have our second Sarita receiving a scholarship
to continue her education and all of our programs are continuing
to grow.
Thank
you for what you have done to make Casa de Sara possible. We ask
for your continued support and, as always, we will work hard for
the children on your behalf!
